About Veteran Compass
Veteran Compass is a free guide to the benefits veterans and their families may have earned. It was started by a veteran who saw how hard it can be to find what is available, especially at the state level, where programs differ from one state to the next.
What you will find here
The Benefits Directory lists federal programs and state programs for all 50 states and Washington, DC. The Benefit Finder helps you narrow the list, and Guided View offers a simpler, larger-text way in. Local Employment Help and the housing directory point to organizations near you.
How entries are sourced
Every benefit links to an official government page. We summarize that page in our own words, and a second review checks each claim against it. Where a page is old, was unavailable, or we could not fully confirm a detail, the entry says that its details are still being rechecked. Rules and funding change, so the official page is always the final word.
Independent and free
Veteran Compass is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or any government agency. Using the directory, the Finder and Guided View is free. Any future paid features or advertising will be labeled clearly and will never decide which benefits you can see.
